2005 Legacy GT

We recently had a customer bring their 2005 Subaru Legacy 2.5GT to us for some nice upgrades! He had a full list of parts that he wanted installed.

Forced Performance "Green HTA" Turbo
850cc Deatsch Werks inectors
Deatsch Werks 300 fuel pump
Perrin turbo inlet
Perrin crank pulley
GT Spec Header
GT Spec up pipe
Cobb catless downpipe
Grimmspeed electrinic boost control selenoid
KS Tech intake
RacerX FMIC

The stack of parts on the work bench, just begging to be installed!!
So he dropped the car off on Friday afternoon and we went to work!
This legacy was all stock, and in for some real treats!
The treats were mostly new, and still in their original boxes...

First order of business was to remove the front bumper skin, so we could mount the intercooler core and run the lower pipes.
Next up was to remove all the factory parts; intake, turbo, header, up pipe, downpipe, and intercooler.

Now for the fun new parts!!
GT Spec header, fully heat wrapped.

along with the matching GT Spec Up Pipe... this are some high quality parts, you can see the detail in the machining surface on the turbo side of the up pipe.

This FP green is a nice sized turbo.... here you can see the stock on the right and the Green HTA on the left.
This turbo looks like it belongs! :D
The FP turbo required a slightly different routing of the coolant hose.

After getting all the exhaust pieces installed... header, up pipe, turbo and downpipe, next up was to fit the intercooler core and piping.
The RacerX intercooler kit did not come with any way to mount the core, it was a pretty nice fit behind the aluminum bumper beam, but Ryan decided to custom make some aluminum brackets to mount the core.

Fitting the piping from the kit, wasn't the easiest task, but after working at it a little we got it all in the right place. we started by setting it all together with just the pipes and the couplers, coming back later with the clamps.
The most time consuming and frustrating part of the whole install, the Perrin intake tube. But we finally got it in, along with the easiest part, the Gimmspeed BCS.

The Perrin Crank pulley went on with ease and added a clean look.

Next to fit was the KS Tech intake and heat shield, another high quality part!

Ant lastly was to fit all the piping with the clamps and get everything tightened.
Using some of the aluminum from the brackets for the intercooler core we decided to make a bracket to keep the hot side of the piping from moving around too much.

Very minimal trimming the the bumper cover was needed, and such a stealth look with the black core behind the bumper.

The best part about this car... is with the hood down, it looks exactly the same as when it was dropped off! It will be such a sleeper on the road!
